Humana is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with!!! I have a brain injury and I have been getting progressively weaker over the last 2 years among other symptoms I have no energy I am constantly exhausted which is really hard for me because of the brain injury. I went to a good neurologist he is a professor at Emory University he had me get a MRI of my brain. He said that it showed some damage to my pituitary and the part of my brain that controls it he suspected I was growth hormone deficient, he said I needed to see an Endocrinologist to have it checked. My Endocrinologist sent me for a test; I had to the hospital to get a growth hormone Stimulation test, it takes about 6 hours they put an IV fluid in my body called Arginine, I could not get the insulin tolerance test because my Dr said in my condition I could have a seizure and not come out of it. They draw blood every 30 min. the test confirmed I am growth hormone deficient. My Endocrinologist sent a request to my insurance co for the medicine, they denied the claim they said it was not a “medical necessity” in order for me to get the growth hormone stimulation test it had to be a medical necessity?
My policy states that they WILL cover growth hormone replacement due to Trauma. I have documented proof of brain trauma and a growth hormone stimulation test The insurance company denied my appeal. My Dr and I have given the insurance company more than what they need to determine that I do qualify for the treatment and that it is a medical necessity. They obviously just do not want to pay for my treatment. I have been suffering for almost 2 years now trying to find out what has been causing these debilitating symptoms now I know I have a real diagnosis for what’s causing this I cannot get any help. I am afraid for my safety I am getting so weak I am almost incapacitated my legs are so weak I almost fell several times getting in and out of the shower and just getting around, with my severe osteoporosis If I fall I will most likely break something. All it took to cause 2 compression fractures in my back was stretching in a chair. Humana is the WORST insurance company, for them to deny treatment for someone in my condition they are just a bunch Of cold hearted bastards!!!!!!
